Planets / Moon
Luminaria
The Moon represents the emotional world, instinct, and the most basic needs for emotional security. While the Sun is what one wants to be, the Moon is what one needs to feel in order to be at peace: it's the most automatic part, the least filtered by reason, the one that reacts before thinking.
The Moon sign describes a person's emotional style: how they process what they feel, what comforts them, what makes them feel safe or threatened. It's also deeply tied to childhood and the bond with the mother figure or primary caregiver, since that's where the first patterns of emotional containment are learned.
Because of its fast cycle — changing sign roughly every two and a half days — the Moon is also used in predictive astrology to read the day-to-day emotional weather, far more than any other planet.
Linked to Selene and lunar goddesses in general: the cyclical, shifting, receptive pulse that governs the tides and moods alike.
Gives emotional stability, a good connection to one's own needs, and an ease for creating supportive, containing environments.
Can show up as emotional instability, trouble self-regulating, or inherited attachment patterns from childhood repeating without question.
